Here are some of the latest news stories regarding Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)

– *Grants and Funding*: The Biden-Harris administration has allocated $20 million in grants to support research development at five HBCUs. Additionally, six HBCUs have received over $36 million in grants and gifts, with North Carolina A&T State University receiving $20 million.

– *Lawsuits and Settlements*: Two former HBCU students have been awarded a $2 million settlement for being tased during a George Floyd protest. A lawsuit alleging that Georgia underfunded its public HBCUs has been dismissed.

– *Academic Developments*: Morehouse College will become the first university to use AI teaching assistants this fall. Jackson State University has implemented a student loan repayment program.

– *Leadership Changes*: Jeffery Norfleet is the new leader of Shorter College in Arkansas. Maisha Handy has been named the first Black president of McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. Christopher Davis has been appointed president of LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis.
