Is an initiative by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) to identify and explore the skills and competencies that will be essential for college graduates to succeed in the workplace by the year 2025. Gen Z’s and Millennials were not native during the 1960’s. Consider yourself lucky. Most were not alive. If 2025 become law you should consider how your life will change. In the current era, it is anticipated that a significant portion of Americans will engage in action.
The 1960s were a period marked by severe turmoil, particularly during the civil rights movement, which sought equality for all. Tragically, this era witnessed the loss of numerous lives, both black, White, Latinos, Native Americans, Filipinos, Chinese Americans, Jewish Americans, Japanese Americans and more. All were law-abiding citizens. The release of dogs on those seeking protection, the fatal shootings by police, the violent confrontations with peaceful demonstrators involving firearms and batons, the assassinations, the deaths of children, and the shattering of families that has lasted over 50 years are just some examples of the hardships faced. These historical events are often omitted from the education of Generation Z and Millennials, both at school and at home. Yet, understanding history is crucial for preparing for the future. The essence of the matter is clear: should such discriminatory and malicious individuals enact this into law, does proposing the law have the means to flee the country when violence erupts—a violence that could potentially exceed that of the ’60s by a hundredfold or more—then the days of carefree living may be over, as the fear for one’s safety becomes a universal concern.
