E.P.A Regulations
E.P.A. propose to set oversight on green house gases from power plants. If the regulation is agreed upon, this will be the first time such federal regulation are implemented in USA history by the federal government limiting carbon emissions from existing power plants, which is responsible for about 1/4 of greenhouses gases.
• High Global Warming Chemicals: The American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act of 2020 directs the EPA to phase down the production and consumption of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), which are potent greenhouse gases. A final rule issued on September 23, 2021, will reduce U.S. production and consumption of HFCs by 85% over the next 15 years.
• Transportation/Mobile Sources: The EPA finalized federal greenhouse gas emissions standards for passenger cars and light trucks for Model Years 2023 through 2026 on December 20, 2021. These standards are the strongest ever established for the light-duty vehicle sector and are expected to avoid more than 3 billion tons of GHG emissions through 2050. Additionally, on March 20, 2024, the EPA announced new standards for model years 2027 through 2032 to further reduce emissions from light-duty and medium-duty vehicles.
• Stationary Sources: Regulations also target emissions from power plants and industrial facilities, though specific details were not provided in the search results.
• Greenhouse Gas Reporting: There are programs in place that require certain facilities to report their greenhouse gas emissions, providing transparency and data for regulatory actions.
• Local Regulations: When installing a greenhouse on your property, you may need to look into zoning and building permits, which are typically set by your local county or city.
These regulations are part of broader efforts to tackle climate change and promote a transition to clean energy technologies. For more detailed information, you can visit the EPA’s website on climate change regulatory actions and initiatives.
